Children’s Department Programs

Registration for all programs has begun.

You must bring your South Country library card! Our registration software requires the barcode on your card.

Online registration is easy and available from home with your library card.

You may sign up children for additional programs.

Please remember parents are responsible to supervise their own children’s library use and materials selection.

Please call the Library if your child will be late for any program. The reserved space in a workshop will be held for five minutes after the program begins. After that, the place will be given to any stand-bys who are waiting.

Free Passes to Museums

The Children’s Department has passes that allow limited free admission into each of three museums: American Museum of Natural History; Children’s Museum of the East End; and Long Island Children’s Museum. Reservations must be made in person by an adult South Country Library cardholder with a card in good standing. For more information stop in at the Children’s Desk.

 

Moms-to-be Club

Becoming a first time mom? Meet other moms-to-be in the community and learn what’s ahead from various prenatal/maternity experts. This series will provide discussions on childbirth preparation, Lamaze, breastfeeding, doulas and the truth about labor. You must register for this three-week series which will begin Tuesday, September 7, 6-6:45 p.m.

 

South Country Library Mothers’ Center

This weekly program offers a place to learn, to listen and to be listened to. It provides an opportunity for moms to talk to each other and share parenting concerns in a non-judgmental, parent-to-parent setting. Children are welcome. You must register for this six-week program which will begin Tuesday, September 14, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

 

Family Programs through Grade 5 with AN ADULT

Celebrate Halloween Early! Join us for special pre-Halloween events all day on Thursday, October 28 (indicated by " symbol). We’ll have candy for any child who comes in costume! Enter our Candy Corn Guessing Contest. Pick up Halloween activity sheets and a list of “Books to Haunt You.” Little ones ages 9-30 months can come dressed in costume to Peek-a-BOO! (pre-registration required). Participate in one of two craft programs for ages 2½-5, Silly Monsters or Ghostly Encounters (pre-registration required). Brave kids in grades 3rd-5th can come to Scary Stories…In the DARK! (pre-registration required).

 

Frogs, Bugs & Animals

All ages AND an adult. Saturday, October 16, 11 a.m. – 12 noon.

Join us for a hands-on visit from the Green Meadows Farm, where you will get to meet a variety of animals and creatures. Only children who are registered will be admitted.

 

Make and Take Craft

Drop in anytime between 3-4:45 p.m. to make a simple craft. No registration necessary!

Homework Club

Grades 3-5.

Every Tuesday & Thursday, 3-4:30 p.m. for students 3rd-5th grade.

No sign-up required, no library card required, just drop in on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3-4:30 p.m. to use our small program room for quiet group projects, independent homework and studying. We’ll have a homework supply box. We do not provide tutoring for the students.

 

Lego Club

Grades K-5.
